In his practice of drawing, Jansem performs graphic and sensitive gymnastics, an experience that allows him to tame the visible world, a practice (of every day) close to happiness, and perhaps sensual delight. He immortilises the faces, the attitudes such as they are in their famished simplicity, their piercing exuberance of hope, or even their violence, their melancolie in which they are the most true and permanent. −  Lydia Harambourg, foreword, exhibition catalogue « Mythologies 2000″.

The lithographic work of Jansem is fully work of fine art. The painter used this different medium to explore another mode of expression and better convey another aspect of his sensitivity. His approach is that of a perfectionist: the artist himself drew on the stone, applied his colors in successive imprints and modulated details to express more powerful poetry, tenderness and serenity in his sharp vision of a reality of fleeting fragility.   −  Michel L’Héritier, foreword of the descriptive catalogue Jansem Lithographe 1984-1993.

“In an etching, it is possible to include very intimate elements because it is a concise, quick and spontaneous work, a bit like an improvisation. It can also express literary ideas and allows all daring. While drawing often serves as a study for a canvas, etching is self-sufficient.”

Coherent in the creation of his own fantaisies and vision, Jansem’s approach to sculpture is like a new declension of his artistic expression.  The characters of his pictorial world take shape in classic bronze.
